Chapter 5: Sanitary Sewer Collection Systems 136 a. Pump product specifications b. Pump curve c. Level measurement devices (e.g., float switches) d. Suction piping, bypass piping and joint type rated for sewer applications e. Quick connect couplings, fittings, valves, check valve etc. f. Telemetry, monitoring equipment, an alarm systems. 4. The Applicant shall provide a backup pump capable of conveying flow of the largest primary/duty pump employed for use. Additional backup pumps may be required by Prince William Water in environmentally or operationally sensitive areas as deemed by Prince William Water. Standby pump shall be installed adjacent to the primary/duty pumps and shall have an individual suction pipe. 5. The Applicant shall provide plan exhibits showing the bypass pump locations, bypass piping layout, and road crossing details including paved or unpaved roads, driveways, entrances,or other travel ways, if applicable. Plan exhibits are to affirm the manholes and equipment are protected from flooding, vandalism, vehicular and pedestrian traffic, or snow removal operations. 6. The Applicant shall address how the suction and discharge manholes will be secured against inflow and debris. 7. The Applicant’s plan shall demonstrate adequate storage and spill containment (e.g., stacking out manholes, berms, etc.) 8. Inflatable plugs shall be used to hold flow and shall have an hose to inflate the plug along with a gauge to monitor pressure. 9. Statement that the contractor will provide a written schedule to the Field Inspector within 48 hours of the scheduled start date and end date that the bypass system will be in operation. E. Bypass Pumping Monitoring and Equipment The Applicant shall specify the means and equipment to providing 24-hour monitoring of the bypass pumping system. When remote monitoring equipment such as an auto-dialer alarm system is permitted for use, each bypass pump shall be provided its own monitoring system. An auto-dialer alarm system cannot be shared among pumps. A list of emergency contacts programed into the auto-dialer shall be provided disclosing their contact name, company name, relationship or role relative to the project, 24-hour contact number, and their response time. The Prince William Water Field Inspector shall be included in the emergency contacts programmed in the monitoring system. Prince William Water reserves the right to require 24-hour onsite personnel for monitoring of the bypass system depending upon existing flows and pipe capacity, the location and number of bypass pumps, the duration of planned bypass operations, or any observed failure of the bypass operation. All pumps and equipment provided by the Applicant are to be maintained by an individual who is trained and qualified to start, stop, refuel, and maintain the bypass system equipment and monitored with an auto- dialer alarm system.
